PCP condemns Israel’s brutal aggression against Lebanon

The PCP strongly condemns Israel’s barbaric bombings on Lebanon, which have caused hundreds of deaths and over a thousand injuries. This crime committed by Israel can only be seen as an attempt to undermine the announced ceasefire agreement and the negotiation process aimed at putting an end to the aggression unleashed by the US and Israel against Iran and other countries in the Middle East. Israel´s Zionist regime is thus reacting, once again, by resorting to the most brutal violence against the populations.

Those who support war are also responsible for the sharp and rapid rise in the cost of living

Those who support war are also responsible for the sharp and rapid rise in the cost of living

However much propaganda, deceit and announcements there may be, the truth is that Portugal is no better off and life for the majority is worse. Rising prices and the cost of living, low wages and pensions, the deterioration of public services, and difficult lives in stark contrast to the record profits of economic groups and multinationals – this is the real Country.

The Constitution is not the past, it is the affirmation of rights for the future

The Constitution is not the past, it is the affirmation of rights for the future

The Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, which Álvaro Cunhal, upon its approval, affirmed to be the “testimony of history,” the “faithful portrait of the Revolution,” was an important victory for our people, for the democratic forces and the military of April, enshrining in fundamental law the achievements and values of the April 25th. Revolution, which are still deeply felt today.

A decent life is a right, and the youth are fighting for it.

A decent life is a right, and the youth are fighting for it.

Today, as yesterday, the youth take the destiny of their lives into their own hands, they do not conform, nor do they resign themselves, and with the irreverence and creativity that characterises the youth, they fight.

The European Union between disdain for the problems of the people, the arms race business and the instigation of war

22 December 2025

On the conclusions of the European Council meeting of December 18 and 19, 2025 The European Council meeting held on December 18 and 19 was marked by the European Union's complete lack of concern for the economic and social problems affecting the lives of workers and peoples, by its insistence on a policy of confrontation, the arms trade and the prolongation of the war in Ukraine, and by its complicity with Israel's genocidal and colonial policy.

Communiqué of the Central Committee of the PCP of December 15, 2025

15 December 2025

The Central Committee of the PCP, meeting on December 15, 2025, analysed recent developments in the national situation and the mass struggle, the elections for President of the Republic, aspects of the international situation, addressed the intervention and strengthening of the PCP, and defined its priorities for action. I  National situation 1. The General Strike of December 11, in the course of the struggle of the workers and the people, has had a profound impact on national life.

General Strike, December 11, 2025: a rejection of the Labour Package and a great assertion of the workers’ strength

11 December 2025

The great and expressive scale of today’s General Strike is an enormous statement of the workers’ strength and unity, and a powerful expression of rejection of a labour package [of laws] at the service of capital, which was put forth by the PSD/CDS Government and which is supported by Chega and Inicativa Liberal [parties].

All for the General Strike - December 11

All on General Strike tomorrow!

10 December 2025

With the legal coverage of the advance notice handed by CGTP-IN, which was supported and reinforced by others, all workers have the possibility and duty of class solidarity to join the general strike tomorrow, December 11. The reasons also affect everyone. We must reject and force the Government to withdraw the labour package, which threatens us all, and demand higher wages, more rights and more and better public services for everyone.

Raise National Minimum Wage to €1050 already in January!

10 December 2025

When everybody swears eternal love for wage increases, the PCP once again provides the opportunity for the Assembly of the Republic to decide to increase the national minimum wage to €1050 as early as January, thereby stimulating a general increase in wages and the valorisation of the careers and professions of all workers. Those who say ‘wages yes, but not now’ will come up with the old refrain: companies can't cope, we need to create wealth and then distribute it, productivity has to increase, and so on...

Workers are not numbers and they are not parts; they are the ones who produce wealth and should be valued

5 December 2025

Mr. Prime Minister, a preliminary note: MP Mr. Hugo Soares kindly brought up the issues surrounding the labour package but managed to spend eight minutes talking about the labour package without mentioning a single measure contained in it. It should also be noted that CHEGA and Iniciativa Liberal tried to sidestep this issue, but Mr. Prime Minister, I would like to ask three specific questions.
