Greetings to everyone present at this get-together lunch. A lunch with so many comrades, with so many friends, with so many trustworthy, honest, dedicated, hard-working people who deserve a better life. People from this land of struggle and resistance, people who know that each of the rights, each of the advances is in the hands of each and every one. It is in the hands of all of us, every day we fight for what we are entitled to and for what we have, but what we really have is the right to a better life.

I know from my own experience the difficulties that the vast majority of us face in contrast to economic groups that accumulate 25 million euros in profits per day. Injustice and inequality are a harsh reality. But it doesn't have to be, and it can't be like this. The Portuguese people spread across the world, those who live and work here, have the right to a better life. There are many people who are rightly disenchanted, outraged, and have lost faith. But the country has a future.

An undeniable figure in Portuguese literature, in all fields of writing – from journalism to novels, novels, short stories, plays, poetry, chronicles, essays, travels – whatever the form, the human values that guided the life of Urbano were always present.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities – From law to life. From words to actions!

December 3rd celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, on the eve of the 50th. anniversary of the April Revolution which, for the first time in the history of Portugal, recognised persons with disabilities as holders of economic, social, cultural and political rights enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic and in the important body of legislation that gave concrete content to these rights and special responsibility to the State to enforce them.
