The PCP strongly condemns the military aggression against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the abduction of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife by the US, which constitutes a very serious violation of international law.
The PCP calls for an end to the military aggression and the immediate release of the President of Venezuela and other Venezuelan citizens by the US.
The US aggression aims to impose its domination over Venezuela and plunder its vast resources, particularly oil, and represents a threat to the sovereignty and rights of other peoples in Latin America, the Caribbean and around the world, as evidenced by US bombings of countries in the Middle East and Africa.
The Portuguese Government must clearly condemn the US military aggression, which violates the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the rights of the Venezuelan people, including the Portuguese community in that country.
The PCP calls for solidarity with Bolivarian Venezuela and with the struggle of the Venezuelan people in defence of peace and the right to sovereignly determine their own path.
