The Biden administration's decision to remove Cuba from the arbitrary US list of so-called “State Sponsors of Terrorism”, four years after its inclusion by the Trump administration, is the result, first and foremost, of the just and persistent struggle of the Cuban people to defend their sovereignty and rights, as well as the repeated position of various countries and the action of the Cuba solidarity movement.
Despite Cuba's exclusion from this illegitimate list, of which it should never have been a part, and the suspension of the application of two other coercive measures by the US administration, the economic, commercial and financial blockade and the set of measures aimed at strengthening it - particularly in terms of energy, health, transport, trade and finance, among others - continue to be applied, affecting the economy and the living conditions of the Cuban people.
It is therefore necessary to strengthen the demand for an end to the criminal and illegal blockade, as well as all the other coercive and extraterritorial measures imposed by the US on Cuba, in violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.
Reaffirming its condemnation of the action of interference, destabilization and aggression promoted by the US against Cuba, the PCP calls for the development of solidarity with the Cuban people who, like all the peoples of the world, have the right to sovereignly decide their path of development and social progress.
