About the Recovery and Resilience Plan and the options that the country needs

The so-called Recovery and Resilience Plan - RRP, now under public consultation, has been presented by the PS government as being the main response to the country's problems. The Prime Minister even calls it a “bazooka”. But the truth is that the RPP with the approximately 16 billion euros it makes available and the options it makes is far from answering the country's needs and, in many respects, sidesteps national priorities.

End of sanctions against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

Even in a situation of pandemic, the policy of interference and aggression against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela promoted by the US continues, which seriously and in a premeditated way affects the living conditions of the Venezuelan people and, consequently, of the Portuguese-Venezuelan community, seeking to prevent the conditions that can ensure the fulfilment of their rights.

Censorship in Ukraine

On February 2, the President of the Republic of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, issued a decree cancelling the broadcasting licenses of three Ukrainian television channels: 112, NewsOne and ZIK. This decision is not dissociated from the numerous attacks on rights and freedoms carried out by the Ukrainian authorities, such as prohibitions, persecutions and aggressions against political, trade union and social organisations, communities and citizens, an example of which is the case against the Communist Party of Ukraine.

Distance learning - inequality in learning. Ensuring the rights of students and parents

After a long period with schools closed last year, the return to face-to-face teaching at the beginning of the present school year was a decisive step towards normalizing the teaching/learning process and enhancing the recovery of delays in the previous year. Only in this way was it possible to guarantee that no student would be conditioned in monitoring the subjects taught, contrary to what had happened with a very significant percentage in the previous school year. A school year that the educational community in general evaluated negatively.

Portugal needs adequate public health measures and socioeconomically balanced

The State of Emergency and the lockdown are an exception, not a solution. The extension of the current situation is unsustainable, not only due to the economic and social problems that emerge from it, namely employment-wise, but also due to the health conditions of the population. The situation in which more than one million households are living in, several of which in telework while their children are in distance learning or are under their full-time care, is unsustainable.
