The election of Dimiris Christofias is an expression of the historic role of AKEL – the Progressive Party of the Working People of Cyprus, of which he is the General Secretary – in the struggle of the Cypriot workers and people for sovereignty, social progress and socialism.

The PCP trusts that the election of Dimitris Christofias is an important step towards the reunification of Cyprus, a cause to which AKEL – the country’s main political force – has been committed to, with great determination and steadfastness.
