Release from the PCP Press Office

On President Trump's serious statements regarding Palestine

The PCP strongly denounces and condemns the recent serious statements by US President Donald Trump regarding the situation in Palestine and the Middle East, which explicitly proclaim the expulsion of the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip and the occupation of this territory by the US.

Symptomatically made in the context of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington, these statements constitute an arrogant affirmation of the sinister projects that unite Israeli Zionism and US imperialism with the aim of liquidating the Palestinian national cause and imposing their domination in the Middle East.

These statements and the projects they embody demand a clear and unequivocal condemnation from the Portuguese government and a position in defence of the legitimate and inalienable national rights of the Palestinian people, enshrined in international law, including in numerous UN resolutions.

Reaffirming the importance of intensifying solidarity with the heroic struggle of the Palestinian people for the creation of their own independent and sovereign State, the PCP calls for participation in the initiatives to be held on February 18, at 18.00, in Largo Camões, in Lisbon, and in Praceta da Palestina, in Porto.
