The gigantic operation surrounding the presidential elections in the USA cannot be disassociated from the current crisis of capitalism - that has had particular expression in the USA - and from the many ongoing attempts to rehabilitate the capitalist system and the hegemonic role of the USA in the international sphere.

While not ignoring the differences between the republican and democratic candidates, the truth is that both party tickets do not disguise their ties to a project of economic, ideological and military domination of the world.

For PCP, the election of Barack Obama as president of the USA is far from corresponding to the expectations that a gigantic global media campaign has sought to create in order to construct an illusion of change and of political swing of the US and its role in the international arena.
