The assertion that “in war the first victim is truth”, is common .In fact, there is no military interference nor imperialist war which has not been triggered under the huge falsities, on what concerns its immediate motivations and the aggressors ’real objectives. Libya’s case is there to confirm it.
Reaction and imperialism systematically use lies, which is not surprising.Never the dominant classes have confessed their real purposes and have always led their exploiter and aggressive policy, under the name of “the general interest” and “ the universal values”. Within formal democracies, emptied of economic, social and even political fundamental rights, in which invigorates a sophisticated control of the media great means and the ideological reproduction institutions, lying holds a considerable influence capacity, as Marx taught, the dominant ideology is the dominant class ideology.
That allows the capital masters, to, with impunity, practice the evil and grimace, during long periods of time, using banality and turning practices and values acceptable which (see Berlusconi) are nothing more than expressions of the capitalism inhuman nature and deep decay, draw great masses unto voting against their own interests and even support the most reactionary forces, as one can see with the right-wing disturbing advance within Europe. Not being surprising that, even after the colossal lies surrounding the Balkan war and Yugoslavia’s destruction or the Iraq’s and Afghanistan’s invasion and occupation, having been damasked, imperialism insists in the usual lies, the same cannot be said about some forces’ behavior, such as the Left Block, which in words are against militarism and war, but in reality, before the ideological offensive and the right-wing policy and their social-democracy route companions blackmail, are unable of a frontal outright condemnation of imperialism.
Surprisingly, such a behavior is disturbing. Libya’s war central issue is excessively serious to allow force’s distortions, which consider themselves left-wing. Besides the country’s oil resources’ control( which Qatar ought to be currently exploiting in Cirenaica), the aggression purpose is all the Arab peoples liberation movement, and beyond the confessed project of obstructing and inverting the popular processes in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen or in Bahrain ( where Saudi dictatorship’s troops openly intervene), a new escalade of Israel’s illegalities and crimes within occupied Palestine are being covered and in Syria pursues an interference and destabilization classical operation, whilst the African continent - from Sudan to Ivory Cost, Nigeria to Angola - carries on, as in the forefront of the imperialism’s conspiracies and re-colonizing ambitions.
Besides - and not of less importance - the war in Libya, not only gives a practical expression of the new NATO strategic concept, and which proclaims this aggressive organization as the world’s police force and the imperialist “new order” armed arm, as it stands as a new step in the UN’s instrumentalization by the USA and other big imperialist powers: for the first time a war has broken out, which violates international law and is led by NATO, having , from the start, the backing of an UN’s resolution.
This is an extremely serious precedence, which no loving force of social progress and peace has the right to overlook.
