ll the great destabilization operations, carried out by imperialism, were anticipated and accompanied by misinformation and manipulation campaigns, with which it seeks to hinder its real purposes and action, as well as to discredit and isolate its victim, neutralizing the natural rejection expression (and solidarity) before the unacceptable external interference against a sovereign country and its people – the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is not an exception.
The Bolivarian process, begun with Hugo Chavez’ election, as president of Venezuela, in 1998/99, has not had a moment of truce. The great democratic changes which led unto million of Venezuelans have access to health, education, potable water, electric energy, housing, culture, its deep and wide sovereign and emancipating project, closely entailed to Latin America and the Caribbean’s emancipation and to its cooperation – ALBA-TCP being its major achievement -, had to be constantly defended by the people of Venezuela, before a permanent United States and the home oligarchy destabilizing, violent and coup action.
This action increased before president Nicolás Maduro’s election, in 2013, and with the capitalism crisis effects falling upon the Venezuelan economy –namely, with the important oil price reduction, this country being an exporter and holding some of the major oil reserves, at a worldwide level.
An interference and destabilization action recently expressed by: the 2014 coup defeat, which provoked tens of dead and hundreds of wounded, the responsible being currently justly imprisoned; Obama’s decree in 2015, declaring Venezuela a threat for the USA’s security; the parliament manipulation, upon the 2015 elections, in order to destitute president Nicolás Maduro and paralyze his government action, by confronting the Venezuelan Constitution and attack the Bolivarian process and its achievements; provoking violence by criminal groups, before the firm defence of the constitutional and democratic legality by the remaining Venezuelan institutions; the USA attempt to use the OEA as a pressure and isolation instrument concerning Venezuela; the economy boycott; the forestalling and the price speculation, as an obstacle to the regular and adequate access to essential commodities; exploitation on momentary difficulties felt by the population; promotion of a chaos artificial climate, distrust, fear and insecurity, by proclaiming a “humanitarian crisis” situation; Alvaro Uribe, ex-president of Colombia, with drug trafficking and paramilitary liaisons, having made an appeal, within the USA, in order to carry out a military intervention in Venezuela; the orchestrated and systematic campaign of the media forgery and manipulation; among other examples on economic , media, political, diplomatic and criminal war against Venezuela, inserted within the counter-offensive carried out by the USA against the sovereign affirmation processes, of progressive nature and cooperation, within Latin America.
To understand what is at stake in Venezuela, to dismount the current media campaign against this country, is a central element of solidarity towards revolutionary and progressive forces, workers and the people of Venezuela that - confronting enormous challenges and tasks, resolution of problems, overcoming difficulties and inadequacies – resist and struggle, in the defence and deepening of the Bolivarian revolution and against imperialism’s and the oligarchy’s action.
