"The truth above all"

Translation of the "Avante!" article by Albano Nunes, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee

Anti-communism is inherent to capitalism. A power which intends to end exploitation of man by man, the dominant power's strength and privileges, cannot count with the Capital's neutrality. Therefore, the silencing, discriminations, perversions and attacks targeted towards the PCP by the media, are not surprising. We shall not stop struggling against these anti-democratic practices, discharging functions and demanding the fulfillment of the rights the Constitution consecrates.

But we are realistic. The class struggle exists and the contrary would be overtaking. But why so much emetic absurdity and hate against the PCP, under the pretext of the expressed opinion in the Press Cabinet statement on the political significance of the Nobel Peace Prize conferred to Liu Xiaobo ? Why such a diversion maneuver and sordid slander campaign against the PCP? The reason is obvious: the PCP, owing to its intervening in the political and social level, is the great obstacle to the right-wing policy, the great strength which struggles against fatalism and resignation.

On the mentioned motive for the campaign, it is well known the PCP is a one-face party and prefers loosing votes by telling the truth than winning them by concealing it. And the truth about the Nobel Prize conferring is, in reality, " inseparable from the economic and politic pressures" on the People's Republic of China, and the PCP' s opinion is that the choice is not innocent, but is inserted within a pressure escalade against this country which, independently of what is thought about its internal and foreign policies, is finding solutions for colossal economic, social and cultural development problems and performs a positive growing role within the international scene.

Obviously, such escalade, cannot help causing great concern, considering the capitalism's deep crisis framework, contradictions' intensity among great powers, run to armaments, multiplying tension and war focuses. If one really desires to achieve Peace, the task is to work towards disarmament instead of reinforcing NATO and other aggressive military blocks, pursuing military maneuvers in China's maritime boarders, arm Taiwan, promote separatism within Tibet and other regions of this enormous multinational country. And it is obvious the undergone pressures are not in the direction of Peace ,such as the ones carried out upon China, in order to open- wide its home market to multinational companies, revalue its currency, accept environmental rules which are considered incompatible with its development, lay limits to its international relations.

To whom really struggles for Peace, cannot help being disturbed by the more and more arrogant and threatening tone imperialism addresses the countries which do not bend its dictat. And China is not an exception. It ought to be, in reality, responsible for planetarium problems, such as a near hydrocarbon resource exhaustion unto an eminent climate catastrophe, or even the USA's de-industrialization, its huge unemployment, its colossal external debt. Articles such as "China as a problem" (in O Publico, 12.10.10, by Vital Moreira, who impudently recognizes the "EU's demands" and the " USA's pressures") or " What is necessary to demand Beijing" ( in the Financial times / Le Monde, 12.10.10, by Martin Wolf) are significative regarding this matter.

This is the truth in which the Nobel Prize's orchestration is inscribed, a truth which cannot be concealed. Nor underestimated, as it contains great dangers towards Peace. It is good for imperialism to remind, that after many years of national humiliation, the Chinese people undertook a great liberating revolution and the return to the old times, when Xangai's central garden and in many other places, there had sign-boards saying: " forbidden the entry to dogs and Chinese" is not possible anymore.
