"Rotten Orange"

Article by Luis Carapinha, member of the International Department

The country was plundered, the safes are empty, the public debt trebled and the budget is inexistent. In current days the situation could apply to a growing number of countries, but these are words of Nicolai Azarov, the new Ukrainian prime-minister, stated upon his nomination by parliament, on March 11th. Rada’s decision, in Kiev, appears after the censorship motion voting, which overthrew Iúlia Timochenko, the remains of her suffered defeat, resulting from the second round during the Ukrainian presidential elections, on February 7th.

Moreover Ianukóvitch’s election for the presidency, is the Timochenko muse’s defeat, preceded, during the first round, by ex-president Iúchenko’s setback – which accounted for less than 6% of the votes– which seal the sour ending of the "orange revolution". And this does not abstain from being an elections’sounding data, in which an eventual substantial politic change might be seen as with the maximum prudence and reserve. As the anecdote says, " Timochenko’s defeat is good news. Ianukúvitch wining is the bad one."

" It’s a fact the orange artificial wave faded, under the endless dispute weight among the Ukrainian great bourgeoisie’s different goups and factions. The politic operation ‘s goal, set up in Kiev’s central square, at the end of 2004, with the USA /EU’s choreography, financing and co-production, was an evidence which was dragging on. The farce ringleaders were missing to be removed.

" The rotten orange fall [ and above all in the Ukrainians mind ] confirms, besides all the distortion effects, the " social gravity" forces’ action. The almost absolute oligarchy domain, among the capitalist system, within a country reverted towards a peripheral position, where the rivalry absurd levels were raised, within the Ukrainian bourgeoisie catbag. Imperialism’s action and the social-economic contradictions’ essence obscurity, required by the traumatic capitalist renewal , deepen the East / West split and on what regards language, cultural and geopolitical confrontation offensive. The new political class leader strengthening upon two decades of economic spoliation is far from being concluded. That is therefore, the "mission" which has passed on to the "blue clan" hands, the new president’s Party of the Regions.

Apathy, social disorganization and the proletariat lumpenization and disappearance trend and even together with middle class salary workers, is a non-overcome reality. However, the Ukrainian people were, in majority, against the NATO adherence, vigorously promoted by the USA and the current stage loosing forces. A major factor which embarraces the imperialist manoeuvre in order to suppress the Ukrainian’s official neutrality statute.

" However, it should be known, to have to recall Ianukóvitch’s previous experience as the government leader, a period during which many NATO approaching agreements were settled…

If Azarov’s designed diagnosis does not fail to be false, within a country that saw its GIP fall 15% in 2009, he missed to inform his fellow citizens that he, himself, carries the burden of great responsibilities before the caused situation, as an Ukrainian establishment prominent figure, during more than a decade and during many government rearrangements of different colouring but a mainly similar guideline, before and upon the " orange ascending", within the former Soviet Republic. And as he also nonetheless said, the painful statement only endeavours to create a favourable atmosphere towards the draconian measures’ legitimacy, which the oligarchy, consensually, has declared as "inevitable".

With the politic democracy changing, more and more into a mirage, the Ukrainian people will have to mobilize to face the capitalist crisis and exploitation damaging effects. To which one adds the nationalist neo-fascist countenance forces, whose reinstatement, so applauded by Iúchenko and the orange power, and which the recently invested president is not in a hurry to to fight, as promised during the electoral campaign.
