The offensive by imperialism and big capital spans the world. But, everywhere on our planet, this offensive is met with struggle and resistance.
Motion aproved by the 19th Congress
The offensive by imperialism and big capital spans the world. But, everywhere on our planet, this offensive is met with struggle and resistance.
Struggle and resistance against the brutal onslaught on the living standards of the workers and peoples, on their rights and achievements of many decades.
An onslaught which seeks to save big finance capital and the capitalist system from the enormous crisis into which it has sunk the world.
An onslaught which plundered and impoverished peoples and entire continents in the final decades of the 20th century – from Africa to Latin America, from Eastern Europe to Asia – and which is now being extended to the centres of the capitalist system.
An onslaught which, in the European Union, is steered by the centres of articulation and decision-making of big capital, from which emanate the Troikas that destroy countries and lives. But where, from Greece to Great Britain, from the Czech Republic to Portugal, from Ireland to Spain, small and large-scale struggles, demonstrations, general and sectoral strikes are creating the conditions to defeat the onslaught by big finance capital and the governments at its service, to fight back, and defeat, the process of edification of an imperialist European Union with a brutal class nature.
Struggle of the peoples who, through the most diversified forms of resistance and struggle, courageously confront the aggressions, invasions and wars which imperialism imposes upon them.
Like the heroic and martyr Palestinian people, who – under the siege, the bombs and the barbarity of Israel in Gaza, under the occupation and the encroachment by Israeli settlements in the West Bank, in the refugge camps and in exile – have struggled for 65 years for their inalienable national rights.
Like the suffering peoples of Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Libya, Syria, the former Yugoslavia, whose countries are destroyed by the vandalism and terrorism of NATO's wars and the armies of mercenaries at the service of imperialism.
Like the Saharawi people, who have lived for decades under occupation.
Like the peoples of the entire Middle East and of Africa, over whom hangs the threat of new and deadly wars of aggression, which jeopardize world peace.
Struggle of peoples that do not give up on their freedom and democracy, on their political, social and national rights, who yearn for profound social transformations, of an anti-monopoly and anti-capitalist nature.
Like the peoples of Bahrein, of Yemen, of Kuwait and other Arab countries, oppressed by backward dictatorships at the service of imperialism.
Like the peoples of Latin America, who today inspire the world with the Bolivarian process and other processes of progressive transformations, under the impetus of Socialist Cuba's example.
Struggle of the peoples for Peace, which has been dealt so many blows by the ruling classes of the big imperialist powers, who seek to overcome, by force and violence, the profound contradictions and crisis which their system has engendered.
To all workers and peoples in struggle, throughout the four corners of the world, the 19th Congress of the Portuguese Communist Party extends the militant greeting of struggle of all Portuguese Communists.
The struggle continues!
Long live the workers and peoples of the world!
Workers and peoples of the world, unite!
