More than three dozen Members of the European Parliament question the Council and the European Commission on compliance with the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) on the European Union's (EU) Trade Agreements with Morocco.
The initiative was promoted by João Oliveira, PCP member of the European Parliament.
At issue is the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), known last October 4, to reject the appeals filed by the European Commission and the Council of the EU against the ruling of the General Court, of September 2021, regarding the Trade Agreements between the EU and the Kingdom of Morocco, which declared the respective Trade Agreements null and void.
The oral question, with request for a debate in the Plenary, also questions the Council and the European Commission on the start of negotiations between the EU and the Polisario Front, the legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people, about reparations for the damage resulting from those agreements and the future commercial framework for that territory.
The MEPs also question what measures the EU will take to respect the right of self-determination of the Sahrawi people, in compliance with the provisions of numerous UN resolutions.
