In view of the developments of the situation in Western Sahara, following the serious events that took place on November 13, in the region of Guerguerat - Sahrawi territory located next to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania -, in which the Moroccan occupying forces carried out military operations that violated the terms of the ceasefire in force since 1991, negotiated under the auspices of the UN, the PCP:
- Recalls that the Sahrawi people have waited for decades for the fulfilment of their right to self-determination, in accordance with and respecting the principles of the UN Charter, International Law and the numerous relevant United Nations resolutions;
- Reaffirms its condemnation of the Moroccan policy of aggression and oppression of the Sahrawi people and occupation of the territories of Western Sahara and holds the Kingdom of Morocco responsible for the current deterioration and escalation of the situation;
- Urges the Portuguese Government to act in favour of a just solution to the conflict in Western Sahara, which necessarily involves the effective and immediate fulfilment of the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination;
- Calls for solidarity with the Polisario Front's persistent and courageous struggle against colonialism and for the respect and materialisation of the inalienable national rights of the Sahrawi people.
