On the 20th August last, the media spread, through their international information centres, the run for “elections” in Afghanistan as “an important mark for the country’s stabilization”. During
those days, statements multiplied, always in the same tone. Obama’s Administration immediately greeted the event, referring it as “ a success, in spite of the Taliban’s efforts to perturb them”.
NATO’s Secretary-General repeated the ldquo;success” speech; the European Commission stated that “ Afghanistan’s men and women expressed their will of having a pacific and democratic development in their country” and the Swedish presidency, in duty, considered
the so-called “elections” as “ an important mark for democracy in Afghanistan”.

At the moment when new developments round the so-called “elections” are known, such statements deserve being recalled, so that their hypocrisy and ridiculousness will not be forgotten. And all the others that currently fill the newspapers pages.
The so -called Electoral Complaints Commission” concluded to have found “ clear and convincing fraud proofs”. The USA were “hard”towards
“President” Karzai and inclusively conditioned the, already decided commitment of more troops, arguing it would only take place before a “ credible government”, in the country. Karzai resisted, alleging “ that the Western countries had conspired to
steal upon his victory”, having yielded and accepted a rerun, on the next 7th
November.

In fact, hypocrisy has no limits! The USA, the major responsible for all that occurred in these “elections”, “shove” the frauds and the total failure of both the “elections” and their own strategy onus unto Karzai. Within an act, that brought to surface the existent contradictions among the NATO members involved in Afghanistan’s occupation – as the French Foreign Affairs Minister declared, being “ worried about the current reached impasse”- Obama’s
Administration currently used the so-called ldquo;revelations” – it knew about for a long time and in which it was involved, as we had the opportunity to denounce in our 20th
August Avante! Edition (1) – in order to partially remove the carpet to one of its most main right –hand men.

And why? Simply because, before the “elections”, the USA adverted that Karzai might not be – at least alone – the best instrument to proceed Obama’s Administration new strategy, by intensifying the war, and
beating the record of the occupying forces’ presence and extending the war unto Pakistan. The solutions which currently are on the table, in order to overcome such an “impasse”, really reveal the USA’s and NATO’s strategy. With the appointed rerun, the
occupant representative powers’ chances – settled in Kabul, “to hold hand” of the process – as said, are, in the minimum an anecdote. The first, starting from zero. Or in other words, the two major candidates, both issued from the previous puppet government, would again integrate a government of “national unity”, presided by Karzai. The second, reveals the real “respect” level towards the “elections”. In other words, Abdullah would not run in the
second turn, which would give the immediate victory to Karzai
So, the second chapter of the farce elections in Afghanistan has been told. The third will take place in two and a half weeks time. We do not know the outcome, but the outline is written. Together with good speeches and Nobel prizes, imperialism carries on, committed in its war and domination strategy. Crushing democracy, the truth and the peoples’ rights.
