The Portuguese Communist Party strongly condemns the aggressions and acts of vandalism, destruction and looting perpetrated in the State of Tripura against the communists and other progressive Indian forces.

These unacceptable anti-communist and anti-democratic actions, perpetrated in the aftermath of the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies in the recent legislative elections in this State, prove the reactionary character of these nationalist forces.

Calling for an immediate end to these violent attacks and full accountability of their authors, the PCP expresses its solidarity with the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the Communist Party of India and the other democratic and progressive forces which in India courageously stand against repression and fight for the respect and exercise of the democratic rights of the Indian people.
