In a letter addressed to the PCU on May 8, the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCP expressed "its repudiation and condemnation towards the new persecutory act against the Communist Party of Ukraine", whose central office and the house of its general secretary, Petro Symonenko, were searched by the Ukrainian authorities. PCP also expressed "its solidarity with Ukrainian communists, anti-fascists and people in the face of the repeated actions of fascist provocation and intimidation that took place on the eve of the May 9 celebrations, the Victory Day over Nazi-fascism", reaffirming 'its demand for respect for democratic freedoms and rights in Ukraine and denouncing the hypocrisy of the European Union's authorities towards the brutal repression, widespread arbitrariness and constant violation of freedoms, guarantees and rights perpetrated by anti-democratic and fascistic power in that country."
