The PCP follows with particular concern the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East face to the escalade of war unchained in the last days by Israel.
Firmly condemning the terrorist attacks that in the last weekend had shaken Israel, the PCP considers that such attacks only serve the aims of the forces whose authors say to fight.
The brutal military offensive unchained by Israel, country that daily violates countless resolutions of the UN, attacking the Palestinian Authority and declaring war to its President, constitutes a new escalade in the conflict that can lead the region to war.
The Israel-Palestinian problem is a direct result of the infringements by Israel of the resolutions 242 and 338 of UN, among others and of its no recognition of the free and independent Palestinian State, with capital in East Jerusalem. And of the constant protection that Israel has received by the diverse Administrations of U.S.A.
It is, therefore, necessary to stop this brutal attack against the Agreements of Oslo and against the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian people.
It is up to the Portuguese government to demand that Israel stops this military escalade and intervene in the EU so that it takes steps in the same direction.
Expressing its solidarity to the just cause of national liberation of the Palestinian people, the PCP will continue to fight for the end of the escalade in course and so that to the Palestinian people be recognized his right to an independent State.
