Resolution 2254 on Syria’s situation, unanimously adopted by the United Nations Security Council, last December 18th, with its contradictions and ambiguities and besides being an authentic hypocrisy and cynicism exercise for those who- as the USA, France or Great Britain – and that five years ago begun the Syria Arab Republic destruction, does not avoid a reflexion on the recent evolution of this country’s situation, which is mainly a result of the determination and obstinate resistance of Syria and its people, before the external brutal aggression and the important support its struggle has received.
Although the resolution begins by reaffirming the strong compromise towards territorial sovereignty, independence, unity and integrity of the Syria Arab Republic, with the objectives and principles of the United Nations Charter, it equally contains the elements that ought to be used in order to carry on the “questioning” of such “compromises”, namely, by those who have never respected them.
In other words, by the impossibility of destruction of the Syrian state, with its institutions, upon five years of interference and aggression by the USA and its NATO allies and within the Middle East – which created and supported all kinds of mercenaries’ groups, spreading death and devastation -, some currently desiring to consume and using this via, for the so-called “ change of regime” within Syria, and that, up to know, were not able to impose by war.
If there were any doubts on their real intentions, it ought to be sufficient to follow the USA, France or Great Britain, among other representatives’ statements, at the time of this Security Council resolution adoption. With some nuances, their statements meet, concerning the re-affirmation of the objective they carry on considering as a fundamental concern, Bashar-al-Assad, president of Syria’s estrangement, under the basis of a scheduled “ political transition” with the inclusion/exclusion of their nominees. If currently, exclusion of the so-called “Islamic State” is announced, on the other hand, they underline the inclusion of similar groups which participated in a recent meeting, which took place in Saudi Arabia – one of the countries that have always supported the “Islamic State”.
At the same time, it is equally significant and clarifying that those who mostly disrespected the Syrian state sovereignty and independence and are responsible for the country’s brutal destruction are, once again, situated in the front line ( of the continuation) of interference, imposing conditions, creating objectives, waving threats, establishing mechanisms that ought to allow their direct action on the field – and in reality, carrying on to making decisions that only but belong to the people of Syria to decide on.
The solution for the serious situation in Syria demands the effective respect for sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syria Arab Republic and not the interference and external intervention with the purpose of a so-called “change of regime” – an authentic criminal action that the USA and its allies have perpetrated, as in Yugoslavia, Iraq or Libya, despising the United Nations Charter principles.
Imperialism will not give up easily the purpose of its intent to destroy the Syria Arab Republic pan-Arab and anti-imperialist positioning.
As before, it is for the patriotic and progressive forces in Syria, for its people to defend its independent and sovereign state – together with the support of other states and the world peace and anti-imperialist forces solidarity.
