On the eve of the National Strike called for October 21 in Colombia, the PCP addressed the Colombian Communist Party, the Patriotic March and the Common Alternative Revolutionary Force (FARC), saluting the courageous resistance of the Colombian workers and people and all the social and popular movements that, facing intimidation and repression, have mobilised and converged in the demand for social rights, peace, freedom and democracy.
In its message, the PCP denounced the anti-democratic and fascistic policy of the government of Iván Duque, at the service of the exploitative and interventionist agenda of US imperialism, and strongly condemned the systematic practice of genocidal nature against the lives of trade unionists, social activists, representatives of indigenous peoples and ex-guerrillas and the brutal violence against Colombian workers’, peasants’ and popular movements.
Urging the Colombian Government to comply with the Peace Agreements signed in Havana, an important element for the achievement of peace with social justice in Colombia, the PCP reaffirmed its solidarity with the struggle of the Colombian workers and people to defeat the neo-liberal and fascistic policy of the government of Iván Duque, and extended a fraternal embrace to the communists and to all the other revolutionary and progressive forces in Colombia.
