Last March 31st, thousands of young workers throughout the country answered the appeal by CGTP-IN and marked the National Youth Day with a day of struggle against precarious employment and for the right to labor stability and safety.
The young workers denounced the low wages, the precarious labor relations, unemployment, forced emigration, deregulation of work schedules, and the reversals regarding rights as the reality that marks the day-to-day of Portuguese workers, specially the youth.
Present in the march as a sign of solidarity with the struggle of young workers, the General-Secretary of PCP underlined the need for a plan to fight precariousness, having referred that in many companies the "labor law was replaced by the law of the jungle, where we find diversified forms of precarious labor relations. It is necessary to give significant importance to collective contracts that enshrine the rights of workers, the right to have rights".
"This march is proving that the youth has concerns, that it is alert and wants dignified work with rights", stated Jerónimo de Sousa.
