The last week events confirm an international situation marked by instability, insecurity and danger accumulation. Imperialism ‘s offensive has become more and more violent and followed by destabilization, misinformation and lie campaigns. The situation demands from states, as from Portugal, an independent and sovereign positioning, demarking from the confront and manipulation logic of the great powers and NATO.
Unfortunately, the Portuguese external policy reality has had an opposite evolution. The examples succeed: before Sweden’s decision of recognizing the Palestine State and at a time during which Israel develops new provocations, having once again closed the Gaza Strip, the Foreign Affairs Minister chose hypocrisy, in order to deny the Palestine people’s rights. On that same occasion, NATO decided to launch a campaign, having renewed the famous imperialist propaganda slogan of the then “Cold War”: “The Russians are coming!”. The Foreign Affairs and Defence Ministries, that performed and were in the origin of the news on the Russian planes having penetrated over the national air space or instead that an hydrographical ship navigated through our ZEE, but in international waters. Reality is that the F16 Portuguese only but followed the Russian planes during their flight near the Aerial Space and the Portuguese Navy identified and accompanied the Russian ship.
The Portuguese government performed a total irresponsible behaviour, of great seriousness, only explained by its total submission and orders to NATO, alias, a well expressed submission in Aguiar Branco ’s intentions of increasing military expenses concerning the “NATO compromises”. A submission that is also in the origin of minister Rui Machete’s participation in the paranoiac international campaign round the “Jihadists” and ought to make the government go ahead with new security measures, attempting against our rights, freedom and guarantees.
Irresponsible on what concerns, not only the participation in NATO misinformation campaigns, but assumes almost incredible contours when Portugal is on its toes delivering speeches, on the need of accelerating the negotiations of the Transatlantic Trade Treaty and Investment (TTTI), namely, defending the creation of Arbitrary Courts, in other words, “ legal paradises”, which ought to function as authenticable compressor rollers on national sovereignties and workers’ rights.
Therefore, it is not astonishing that the Portuguese government is mute on Juncker’s involvement scandal, in schemes of thousand of million Euro Fiscal robbery, together with the Durao Barroso decoration by Cavaco Silva for “ services to Portugal and the European Union”. It is good to remind, a decoration attributed to a man who, participated in lies which led to the Iraq war ( the Azores Summit); that abandoned the government, in 2004, in order to assume the European Commission presidency; who was a leader of the Troika, which destroyed , along with his party government and the PS agreement, the economy and the Portuguese peoples’ lives, and meanwhile prepares his world tour, in an authenticable illusionism and manipulation circus on the European Union real situation. And because what unites all them, is the very same class vision, in favour of the powerful and against workers and peoples. And therefore, they lie, commit apparent irresponsibilities, betray national interests and in the end...award each other.
