The Joint Appeal for the elections to the European Parliament, which will take place in Portugal on June 9, is the result of the committed contribution and collective effort of several parties, which gains increased value and meaning in the context of the current situation in Europe.
The Joint Appeal process began 25 years ago, in the 1999 European Parliament elections, within the framework of the Confederal Group of the European United Left / Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL), a political group that was created in 1994 in the European Parliament and which for three decades has constituted a space for cooperation between communist parties and other left-wing forces. Since then, this is the sixth time that the Joint Appeal has been launched.
The Joint Appeal contains important positions and political proposals that respond to the problems of workers and peoples and the realisation of their legitimate aspirations, and reaffirms the commitment to the continuity of the Confederal Group of the European United Left / Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL) – The Left in the European Parliament.
The Joint Appeal represents a sign of hope, confidence, convergence and determination in the struggle for a better life, for equality, for a Europe of peace, cooperation and social progress, for a Europe of workers and peoples – a struggle that the political forces that subscribe to it are determined to continue.
