"Ukraine and Fascism"

Translated "Avante!" article by Albano Nunes, Member of the Secretariat of the CC

Before imperialism’s claims against Crimea’s referendum “illegalities” on March 16th and threats with “sanctions”, the truth is that nor even the media, which covered the coup d’état in Kiev are able to hinder that, one has assisted to an unequivocal expression of popular will (in contrast with the violence and terror in Maiden Square) that (as shown in the joyful images from Lenine Square, in Simferopol) it is possible to witness the hope in regaining much of what was destroyed upon the USSR’s dismantlement, together with a clear Fascism rejection which, within Crimea, as in all over Ukraine, perpetrated crimes which endure in the people’s memory.

In fact, before the Ukraine’s uncertain evolution situation, a situation in which are not excluded very dangerous developments concerning security and peace, one highlights a disturbing element that nothing can hinder: Fascism advances through Europe. An advance with no open disguise, arrogant and provocative, supported and organized by the “ Western” intelligence and moving as an imperialism expansionist shock force. And installing itself within a “pro-Western” coup government, based on violence, ethnic persecution and anti-communist, a promptly recognized government by the European Union, with which it prepares to sign down a leonine agreement, the legitimate government had refused. A refusal which was the pretext for the brutal interference and subversion operation monitored by the USA, NATO and the EU, responsible for the current serious situation, namely by the developments which have occurred in the East /South of Ukraine and the reason which conduced unto the Crimea referendum.

An evidence to be highlighted: imperialism never withdraws before any crime, unless if obliged to, by the struggle and force correlation within the international plan. Its exploiter and aggressive nature, in the origin of two devastating World Wars, is present again, in its most terrorist expression, reminding capitalism brings about war just as a cloud brings a tempest and therefore, war not being inevitable , peace ought to be ensured following the monopolies liquidation and the abolition of class antagonisms. The struggle against Fascism, the war and struggle for social progress and socialism are intimately interconnected.

It is never too much to repeat: Ukraine’s situation is inseparable from both socialism’s dramatic defeats and imperialism cavalcade towards the East, which followed. In order to consolidate the counter-revolution and exploit the social and ideological tragedy, into which whole peoples sunk, imperialism declared a deadly war unto all and any resistance to its domain expansion. From the DDR’s annexation unto Yugoslavia bomb destruction, and currently Ukraine, all has been done. All international laws are thorn apart in the name of “ Human Rights” and “ Humanitarian Interference obligations”. Kosovo, violently detached from Serbia, carries on to be a particularly hypocrisy accusation example of imperialist gangsterism. It is evident the USA, Germany/EU and NATO, flying the flag as “ Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity “ protectors, seek but to submit this rich great country and tight the military siege round Russia. Notwithstanding, and not forgetting that between the socialist USSR and capitalist Russia and the nature of their respective foreign and defence policies, there exists an abyss, which the inevitable resistance unto the current Russian power before imperialism’s strategy to destroy its nuclear potential and take hold of its great wealth, can never be forgotten. But never forgetting that, as in Ukraine, the most reactionary and aggressive capitalism sectors incite, more and more, and dangerously towards Fascism and war, in order to confront the crisis and break down workers’ and peoples’ resistance before its exploiter and aggressive offensive.
