"Iraq's destiny"

Translated "Avante!" article by Luis Carapinha, Member of the PCP International Department

News of barbaria come again from Iraq, these last days. A sectarian organization’s soldiers, involved in the destabilization war against Syria, known as the Iraq and Eastern (EIIS) Islamic State, have unexpectadly occupied Mossul and other towns in the North of the country. The media have released summary executions witnesses and the plans for new attacks coming from the medieval horde, which ought to threaten the capital, Bagdad, (an attention in contrast with the dominant silence risen round the Ukrainian coup government military blood campaign, which daily victimises civilians within the Donbass towns). The White House, an expert in cynical arts, expresses great concern and Obama has not excluded a new military intervention in Iraq.

The essential, most of time, out of the “global” media scope.
Within Iraq, an endemic violence, installed as a direct consequence of the aggression and occupation, monitored by the USA troops, in 2003. An unpunished war crime, which carries on to weigh over the main four performers, celebrated in a photo during the Azores Summit ( Barroso, Blair, Bush and Aznar).

Beyond the spurious justifications on an unleashed war in contravention before international law, the USA used the most sordid and cruel methods in order to break down the Iraqi patriotic and anti-imperialist resistance, not hesitating in running for forbidden mass destruction weapons, as in Falluja. Death squadrons were organized in a sectarian base, promoting religious extremism, Iraq’s division ( among Sunnis, Kurds and Shiites) and a state of relentless violence dissemination. Within Iraq, the destruction provoked by imperialism is incommensurable. War signified a great draw back, including in the civilization level, in a country which holds the 5th greatest world oil reserve. The situation worsened immensely, from Iraqi workers rights and social security unto the women’s condition. Maliki’s despotic government in Bagdad ( belonging to the Shiite dominant community), besides having been endorsed in the polls and supported by Tehran’s power, is a result of the USA’s occupation.

There are all motives to suspect a new round of the obscurantist “ Holy War”, which spreads in Iraq and all over the Great Middle East map, drawn out by Washington. The agencies guarantee the EIIS Sunni fundamentalists are more “radical” than the Al-Qaeda - from which they are astray. In the shade, there remain not only the origin and the entailments of Al-Qaeda’s nebula ( namely the connexions with the CIA within the Afghanistan war framework , in the 80’s), as the EIIS and similar terrorist organizations in the aggression against Syria), with the active support of the “ transatlantic block” and key-allies, as the Gulf’s dictatorships ( highlighting Saudi Arabia and Qatar) and the Tel Aviv Zionist regime, where imperialism has not currently, achieved its objectives.

The USA, driven by an unfair and decadent economic order, proceeds the territory fragmentation and national sovereignties destruction cavalcade, facilitating the handing over of strategic resources unto the great trans-national monopolies plunder and the basic performing of the prey circuit of capitalist appropriation and accumulation. The boarders’ instability and the many pressures on China, Russia and Iran is a growing reality. Morales, the Bolivian president, has stated on hosting the G77- China, “ a whole of powers(…) invade countries, blockade trade, impose prices to the rest of the world, asphyxiates national economies, conspire against progressive governments and use espionage(…)”.

Workers and peoples struggle ought to stem the tide of barbaria and defeat the dark policy, which threatens world’s peace.
